Republican chairman wants Palin to speak at convention

Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus on Monday said that he hoped that former vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin would have a speaking role at this month's Republican National Convention.

During an interview on Fox News, host Greta Van Susteren asked the RNC chairman if Palin would be at the podium some time before former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney formally accepted the nomination for president.

"I can't make that announcement tonight, but certainly she's great and we -- I think a lot of her and hope that she does speak," Priebus replied.

Republican officials announced speakers on Monday who included former Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice, former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, Arizona Sen. John McCain, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush and Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul would all be addressing the Republican convention.

Even Romney's former top rival, Rick Santorum, will have a speaking role.

But when it came to former presidential candidates Ron Paul and Newt Gingrich, Priebus wasn't willing to say.

"I don't know when that's going to be coming out," Priebus told Van Susteren. "I'm not at liberty to tell you that tonight."

"I think everyone's going to be really happy with out it comes out," he added.
