For the last couple of weeks, it’s seemed like the New York Times has decided to reinvent itself as the Manhattan edition of the Harvard Crimson.

Dozens of articles and opinion essays about the controversies swirling around the first Black president of America’s most prestigious university competed for space in America’s most prestigious news org with stories about mass death in Gaza, in a newsroom overpopulated with Harvard alums.
