Roger Stone reveals he will apologize to Judge Amy Jackson 'in person' -- but is it already too late?

Roger Stone, a longtime confidante to President Donald Trump, on Tuesday said that he would apologize to U.S. District Judge Amy Berman Jackson in person after he shared a potentially threatening photo of her on Instagram.

In a statement to The Wall Street Journal on Tuesday, Stone said that he will appear in court as ordered, where the judge will decide if he will face sanctions over the Instagram photo, which appeared to show a crosshairs symbol beside Jackson's head.

“I will be present for the hearing as ordered,” Mr. Stone said.

In a letter filed with the court, Stone expressed contrition.

“Please inform the Court that the photograph and comment today was improper and should not have been posted,” the letter said. “I had no intention of disrespecting the Court and humbly apologize to the Court for the transgression.”

Bruce Rogow, a lead attorney for Stone, also told the Journal that his client would apologize in person.

“Mr. Stone immediately apologized in the Notice of Apology filed yesterday and will do so in person on Thursday,” Rogow insisted.

"The judge could impose more stringent conditions on Mr. Stone’s release, including house arrest or sending him to jail," the paper noted. "She also could impose a full gag order on Mr. Stone, after she said on Friday she wouldn’t bar him from speaking publicly except for the area outside the Washington courthouse."
