Romney accidentally tells Cuban exiles he loves vagina

GOP hopeful Mitt Romney on Monday mistakenly told Cuban exiles that he loved vaginas.
During a campaign stop at a Miami juice shop owned by convicted cocaine trafficker Reinaldo Bermudez, the presumptive Republican presidential candidate spoke with the hosts of Radio Mambí, a station run by Cuban exiles.
"They’re waiting for you with a mamey and a guayaba — Cuban fruits — here in Miami, do you like those?" one of the host asked.
"I am a big fan of mango, papaya, and guava," Romney replied.
"There are mangos there too," the laughing hosts added.
Univision noted that the hosts were most likely amused because papaya is Cuban slang for vagina. As Mediaite's Tommy Christopher advised his readers on Tuesday, patrons at Cuban restaurants could save themselves a lot of embarrassment if they order "fruta bomba" when craving literal papaya.
"To be fair, in many languages (including English), pretty much ever word for fruit can be slang for 'vagina' if used with the right inflection," Jezebel's Erin Gloria Ryan wrote.
"But I'm hopeful that what Romney actually mean[t] was 'vagina,' and that this non-gaffe means Mitt Romney is going to stop campaigning on a promise to make it more expensive for women to access health care."
