'Romney Condoms' offer protection for the 'elite penis'

Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney has inspired a New York-based condom company to create a prophylactic for "anyone with an elite penis."

The product, sold on RomneyCondoms.com, features packaging with Romney's likeness, the words "never settle" and a background of $100 bills. "Despite Mitt's Inability To Stick To A Position, Romney Condoms Are Great For ANY Position," the website boasts.

Say It With a Condom founder Benjamin Sherman told Raw Story that his company would be sending a box of the condoms to the Romney campaign because he believes it could be a way for the candidate to connect with the average American.

"You know, Romney's got his house in California, his house in the mountains and an apartment some place," Sherman said. "You can't fault him for being successful. You definitely can't. That's the American way. ... Everybody needs condoms and this is definitely a way he can definitely reach out and touch someone. Literally."

"Seeing his crushing loss to Rick Santorum last night, we wanted to get out there and just remind people that they shouldn't settle despite the fact that Romney is rich, handsome and smart."

The former Massachusetts governor recently told CNN that he was "not concerned about the very poor that have a safety net, but if it has holes in it, I will repair them."

But according to the RomneyCondom.com website, this product is "one 'safety net' that doesn't have any holes."

"We're going to be shipping [the campaign] a box of condoms out today," Sherman explained. "We don't know if they are going to be selling them on the campaign trail, but we definitely think this is one way that Romney can pitch his unemployment plan solution to the American public. By wearing a Romney condom, there will be less people entering into the workforce, thereby lowering unemployment. It's a long-term plan, but we definitely think there's some merit to it."

In addition, the website touts that Romney Condoms "are tax free so even the poor can afford them."

Sherman also noted that the prophylactics "can be used with more than one wife." Unlike Catholic doctrine, Mormons do not believe that birth control is a sin.

By noon on Wednesday, Sherman said the company had already taken over 1,200 orders from about 23 different countries.

"We really look forward to getting this product out there and into people's hands," Sherman explained. "That way they can really have fun with them in more ways than one."

Say It With a Condom also created Obama Condoms and McCain Condoms during the 2008 presidential campaign.
