RuPaul 'heartbroken' over Trump's election: 'It feels like the death of America'

Iconic drag performer RuPaul said that the election of Donald Trump to the highest office in the land "feels like the death of America."

In an interview with Vulture.com, the Emmy-winning reality TV host did not hold back when asked for his thoughts on the election.

“Last night I woke up at 1:30 in the morning and I remembered what happened and I couldn't get back to sleep,” he said at last Sunday's Critics Choice Awards.

“It's sad. I'm still so heartbroken over it. It feels like the death of America,” he continued. “The America that we have all fought so hard for, the narrative of love and peace and liberty and equality, it feels like it is dead.”

RuPaul has been a vocal supporter of Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton, who he called "a badass b*tch who knows how to get things done."

Born RuPaul Andre Charles, the legendary drag performer has spent two decades in the limelight as a musician, producer, writer, model and actor. In 2016, he won an Emmy Award for Best Reality TV Host for the Bravo TV show, RuPaul's Drag Race.
