Comedian Russell Brand slammed Donald Trump on The Trews on Friday for bringing poltical discourse in the US down even further from where Brand usually sees it.
"You know my views on conventional politics -- it's meaningless. These spectacular, ludicrous, grotesque figures, however, do contribute to the maintenance and exacerbation of a mood of negativity, and making politics dumber and stupider, and more inhuman than ever" he said. "And perhaps no one is more expert at that than Donald Trump. 'No one builds idiots like Donald Trump.'"
Trump's remarks suggesting Megyn Kelly was menstruating during a Republican presidential candidate earlier this month, Brand argued, represented a major misunderstanding of not only male-female interaction, but politeness and common decency.
"Let me tell you this: I find Donald Trump objectionable, and I am not menstruating," he said.
Brand found himself wondering if the real estate mogul was trying to create a "frequency jam" of ludicrous ideas, like his obsession with wanting Mexico to pay for a wall along its border with the US. While it would be "ludicrous" to think Trump can actually become president, he added, what he is doing is polluting political circles with that kind of rhetoric.
"Yes, Donald Trump is a joke -- but the punchline is a worse world for everyone," he said.
