Samuel L. Jackson schools KTLA: 'I'm not Laurence Fishburne. We don't all look alike'

Actor Samuel L. Jackson put KTLA-TV entertainment reporter Sam Rubin in an awkward spot on Monday after Rubin apparently confused Jackson with another black actor, Laurence Fishburne.

Jackson appeared on the station via remote to promote his role in the upcoming remake of Robocop when Rubin asked, "Working with Marvel, the Super Bowl commercial -- did you get a lot of reaction to that Super Bowl commercial?"

"What Super Bowl commercial?" Jackson asked in response; it was Fishburne who appeared in a Kia ad during the game, reprising his role of Morpheus from the Matrix film series.

Rubin is then shown looking off-camera before saying, "Oh, you know what? My mistake," at which point Jackson began calling him out.

"You're as crazy as the people on Twitter," Jackson told Rubin. "I'm not Laurence Fishburne." As Rubin threw his hands up admitting to the mistake, Jackson added, "We don't all look alike."

"You're the entertainment reporter, and you don't know the difference between me and Laurence Fishburne?" Jackson asked. "There must be a very short line for your job."

"It's probably not very hard to get another person to sit right here," Rubin responded, before unsuccessfully trying to steer the conversation back to Jackson's movie.

"Oh hell no," Jackson insisted. "Really?"

After repeatedly apologizing to Jackson during the interview, KTLA posted a separate apology from Rubin on Monday afternoon.

"I pride myself on the fact -- that unlike a lot of people who do this kind of work -- more often than not, I really do know what I'm talking about," Rubin wrote. "But I didn’t 30 minutes ago, and I'm really embarrassed about it, and I very much apologize to Samuel L. Jackson and anyone else who was offended for what was a very amateur mistake."
