Being Santa while black apparently led to the destruction of this family’s Christmas decoration

Vandals in Beaverton, Oregon, slashed a black Santa Claus decoration multiple times, leaving Caucasian Santas in the neighborhood untouched, reports KOIN

Fritz Richard had concerns about putting out an inflatable black Santa, but decided to do so anyway. A day later, someone had slashed it multiple times.

"There is a lot of neighbors who have Christmas decorations, Caucasian Santas, and nothing that we know of has happened to them," he said.

Neighbors have since put up black Santas in solidarity.

"It's exactly the opposite result I think they were looking for," Richard said of the vandals. "There will be hopefully a lot of black Santas around this neighborhood."
