Sarah Sanders on Trump’s totally contradictory FISA tweets: ‘We don’t see any contradiction at all’

White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders on Thursday defended two contradictory tweets from President Donald Trump which both supported and opposed a foreign surveillance bill that House Republicans were trying to pass.

During Thursday's press briefing, Sanders was asked about Trump's confusing tweet in opposition of Section 702 of Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act, which Republicans eventually passed after Trump issued a second tweet in support of the bill.

"We don't think there was a conflict at all," Sanders told reporters. "The president fully supports the 702 and was happy to see that it passed today. But he does have some overall concerns."

"We don't see any contradiction or confusion," she insisted.

Sanders faced a grilling about the tweets throughout the press conference, but she stuck to her talking points.

"The president has been clear what his position is," she concluded. "I can't be more clear."
