The U.S. Secret Service is investigating a possible threat to President Barack Obama's life after a burned cat was discovered staked to a tree stump with an American flag next to an Obama-Biden political sign at a park in Minneapolis.
The StarTribunereported that the cat's carcass was found by an employee of Longfellow Park on Monday.
A federal official said that the American flag was staked through the cat's throat. An iced tea and a cat food tin were also found on the stump.
The Minnesota Federated Humane Societies on Tuesday offered a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the person responsible for the cat's death.
