SF professor accused of secretly filming partying students using bathroom in his house

A former accounting professor at San Francisco State University has been arrested after a hidden camera used to film students was discovered in the  bathroom of his house.

Mark Landis, 38, was arrested Wednesday and has been charged with 15 misdemeanor counts of invasion of privacy, according to the San Francisco Examiner.

According to court records, a student alerted authorities about Landis last November after discovering the hidden bathroom camera while attending a party at the professor's home.

Noticing a tissue box that seemed to have a flashing light coming from underneath it, the student looked under the box and found a camera. The student reportedly removed the memory card from the camera and later examined the contents, discovering photos of other guests and students using the bathroom.

District Attorney George Gascon called the allegations disturbing, saying, "It’s pretty egregious conduct.”

The complaint against Landis lists 15 victims,  and could include more as police continue their investigation.

Landis, who resigned from SFSU on July 18, has been released from custody on $100,000 bail and is scheduled to return to court July 29.
