A discussion of the enthusiastic response Republicans have reacted to the rape accusations brought forward against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh on HBO's Real Time with Bill Maher quickly went off the rails Friday night.
Maher's panel included journalist Soledad O'Brien and New York magazine's Andrew Sullivan, who began arguing within the first moment.
"What happened, is the Democrats and I have to say the mainstream media, made this not about Brett Kavanaugh, but about all white men," Sullivan said. "That all white men are essentially wannabe rapists, that all white men are the problem."
O'Brien loudly sighed.
"I feel sorry for you," she said. "Because clearly you're a victim!"
"I'm not!" Sullivan interjected. "I'm saying to take one individual, and say all white men are this—"
"No one said that," O'Brien said. "Oh, please!"
The two then interrupted each other until Sullivan asked O'Brien to "let me finish, for goodness sake."
Sullivan then maintained again that Democrats tried to make the Kavanaugh case about all white men as O'Brien said it didn't happen.
