GOP Rep admits his party's tax bill was 'mislabeled' to avoid questions about how Trump will personally benefit

Rep. Mark Sanford (R-SC) admitted on Tuesday that his party appeared to "mislabel" their tax bill to disguise that it was about tax cuts.

Sanford told The Washington Post's Erica Warner that "fundamentally the bill has been mislabeled."

"From a truth-in-advertising standpoint it would have been a lot simpler if we just acknowledged reality on this bill," the South Carolina Republican continued, "which is it's fundamentally a corporate tax reduction and restructuring bill, period."

"There's a degree of political sensitivity given, I think, to the president's net worth and business involvements and of being labeled as what might be best for him," he continued.
