South Carolina school employee arrested for allegedly stealing from students as they marched against guns

A custodian at a South Carolina high school has been arrested for theft after she went through the student's backpacks and stole money while the teens were outside protesting about lax gun laws in the U.S.

According to WLTX, Aisha Evans, 32, has been  charged with three counts of petit larceny after taking $180 from students backpacks during the National Walk Out Day protests on Wednesday.

The report states that Evans waited until the students at Richland Northeast High School left their classrooms before she reportedly stole the money.

When the students returned to their classrooms and discovered the theft, school authorities conducted an investigation and pinpointed Evans as the culprit.

According to the school district, the custodian was a contract employee and was immediately terminated and banned from school property after being taken to the Richland County Detention Center.
