President Donald Trump is planning a victory tour for his “one, big, beautiful” spending bill, which hasn't passed the Senate, according to an exclusive report from Axios.
The outlet’s source said the countrywide tour will come “shortly after” Trump’s July 4 deadline for the bill.
Both President Trump and Senate Majority Leader John Thune have said the Senate cannot leave for the Fourth of July recess until the bill is passed.
Aides are planning “a whole-of-government mobilization,” with Trump, Vice President JD Vance, and others “ doing a lap around the country, visiting target states and congressional districts.”
The bill touting would come ahead of the 2026 midterm cycle, which many critics claim the GOP will lose if this bill passes.
Axios' “reality check” claims “Republicans privately express lots of doubts about holding the House for vacation.”
Currently, it is unclear if the bill will pass the Senate. However, several key GOP Senate votes, including Senators Lisa Murkowski (R-AK), John Curtis (R-UT), Thom Tillis (R-NC), and Jerry Moran (R-KS), have come out against the bill, questioning the GOP’s plan to cut clean energy tax credits.
The GOP is currently divided; some claim Trump’s hallmark bill would cut social safety nets like Medicaid and the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (also known as SNAP) too much. Others believe the bill does not go far enough and are calling for more slashing.
Still, President Trump is planning on the bill passing by his deadline.
The White House source told Axios, "Tough hasn't stopped us before."
Axios reports, “It'll be a puzzle, but the White House expects the bill to pass. With Trump looking strong abroad, expect a rally-around-the-chief effect among congressional Republicans.”
The outlet added, “Trump's poll numbers outside Republicans could depend on whether voters' daily lives are more affordable.”
