Stacey Abrams tells CNN's Jake Tapper she intends to run again -- despite 'systematic disenfranchisement'

Democrats have called Stacey Abrams' Georgia gubernatorial race a fraud as former Secretary of State Brian Kemp trotted out every possible tool and trick to suppress the vote in Georgia during the midterm elections. It was enough to empower Abrams to ready herself for what's next.

"I'm going to spend the next year as a private citizen but I do, indeed, intend to run for office again," she told CNN's Jake Tapper. "I'm not sure for what and for when. I need to take a nap. Once I do, I plan to get back in the ring."

Playing clips of Democrats alleging Abrams' seat was "stolen," Tapper asked if she too believed Kemp acted improperly and unethically.

"Maintaining clean voter roles is absolutely appropriate," Abrams conceded. "The vigor with which he did so and the mismanagement of which he did so. A perfect example is the 92-year-old civil rights activist who lived in the west end of Atlanta for 49 years, voted in every single election since 1968 in that neighborhood and she was removed from the polls."

She noted that Kemp's efforts began eight years ago, setting the stage for "systematic disenfranchisement."

The race proved to be the closest in Georgia since 1966.
