Stephen Colbert shames cable news for showing exploding Istanbul terrorist: It’s a TV ad for ISIS

The death toll in Turkey stands at 40 people, yet all cable news shows seem to want to run footage of is the explosions. Whether it's the crowds running for their lives or the footage of the terrorist being shot and then detonating the bomb, it seems they are obsessed with showing the act of terror, and Stephen Colbert isn't happy about it.

The attack in Turkey certainly the way Paris did. In fact, most late-night hosts are on a break, so Colbert was the only one to say anything about the incident on his show last night.

“All of our thoughts and prayers and our good wishes go to the people who are suffering everywhere in the world at the hands of terrorism,” he said after his opening stand-up. “This time, it’s Istanbul. And it is heartbreaking to see this happen over and over again.”

But that was the only nice thing he had to say.

“And just an aside, I would like to say something to all the news organizations out there," the "Late Show" host began. "Is it really necessary to show us photographs or rolling video of a terrorist exploding?”

Colbert explained showing the footage over and over again was nothing more than an advertisement for terrorism.

“That really seems like advertising for someone’s cause in a way that they may like,” Colbert said, accusing networks like CNN and MSNBC of essentially doing ISIS’s bidding. “I don’t think we need to see that.”
