Trump adviser faces instant ridicule after describing his boss as a 'style icon'

Hardline Trump adviser Stephen Miller drew derision this week after he described former President Donald Trump, a.k.a., the mastermind behind the gold "Never Surrender" sneakers, as a "style icon."

Miller made these remarks during an appearance on Fox News where he hyped up his boss's fashion sense to be on par with Gianni Versace.

"I would also say we're talking about style, the most stylish president and first lady in our lifetimes are Donald Trump and Melania Trump," he said. "Donald Trump is a style icon. He changed American fashion on 'The Apprentice.' If anybody deserves a puff piece on their sense of style it's Donald Trump and the First Lady."

Praising Melania's fashion sense isn't so much of a stretch, as according to her official White House bio, she had a "highly successful modeling career, appearing in many high profile ad campaigns and working with some of the best photographers in the fashion industry."

Trump, on the other hand has niched a signature style: a uniform of $8,000 blue Brioni suits with a red tie.

Many Twitter users were quick to pounce on Miller's flattery of the former president.

"I don’t see a lot of people walking around with orange paint on their faces and a bird’s nest sitting on their heads," posted @ConservBlue2020.

Logan Henderson also was puzzled by Trump's choice of appearance, writing, "70 pounds of orange makeup, a 3 inch tie and pants twice your size."

"Trump's biggest decision each morning, "James Carey tweeted. "Red or blue tie today? Oh wait, I'm golfing first, never mind!"

He also was echoed by Bruce Goldberg, who accused the former president as being basic at best. "The man literally has two outfits in his wardrobe," the post reads. "Two!"

"A navy suit, white shirt and red tie," asked Barry Shap. "That’s fashion?"

There were also some knocks on Miller's own dress skills.

"If style was a person Stephen Miller would be a pair of Crocs," @SundaeDivine wrote.
