Conservative podcast host Steve Bannon took a shot at Donald Trump's legal team, including Alina Habba, after the former president failed to come up with more than $400 million to pay a cash bond in his New York fraud case.
Bannon reacted Thursday after lawyers for Trump asked to stay Justice Arthur Engoron's decision ordering the billionaire to pay a $454.2 million judgment in a fraud case brought by New York Attorney General Letitia James.
Instead, Trump offered to put up a $100 million cash bond, which was swiftly denied by Engoron.
"My point is the only way they knew they could stop Trump or thought they could stop Trump, let's do lawfare," Bannon said. "That's why he's indicted for, you know, 700 years in prison. This is why they're taking and stripping, they're stripping the — his company from him."
"I did not like, the first thing I have not liked from him — well, from the legal team," the conservative host admitted. "I didn't like coming with the hundred million dollars in cash yesterday. That was not typical — that was not Trumpian."

"I don't know what happened there in the miscommunication, but I think — and it was rejected as I thought it would [be]... They're only going to try to crush Trump in every aspect in that New York situation. To me, everything you have to do is a show of force."
The attorney general of New York successfully filed a lawsuit against Trump and his business empire for engaging in fraudulent activities. He was hit with $355 million in damages, an amount which is accruing interest daily.
The core of the suit accused Trump and his company of inflating the value of their assets on financial documents to secure loans and tax benefits, which is illegal. This means Trump and his team lied about how much their properties, like golf courses and hotels, were worth to trick banks and tax authorities into giving them better deals.
