A Detroit synagogue president who worked on the re-election campaign of Democratic Attorney General Dana Nessel was found stabbed to death in front of the religious leader's own home, according to Saturday reports.
Samantha Woll, who also previously worked for Democratic Congresswoman Elissa Slotkin, led the Isaac Agree Downtown Detroit Synagogue since last year.
Police said in a statement that they were investigating a body found stabbed multiple times in the 1300 block of Joliet Place, according to the Detroit Free Press.

"A trail of blood led to the victim's home, where police said they believe the crime occurred," the outlet reported.
“I am shocked, saddened and horrified to learn of Sam’s brutal murder,” Nessel said in a statement, according to the Detroit Free Press. “Sam was as kind a person as I’ve ever known. She was driven by her sincere love of her community, state and country. Sam truly used her faith and activism to create a better place for everyone.”
The article includes a statement from the synagogue, which states that it is "shocked and saddened" by the "unexpected" death.
"At this point we do not have more information, but will share more when it becomes available. May her memory be a blessing," the synagogue reportedly said.
Further, the piece says police are not currently aware of the motive for her killing.
"Police have not yet identified a motive, they said. A woman was found at 6:30 a.m. after someone reported her lying on the ground unresponsive and pronounced dead at the scene, they said," the local news outlet reported.
