The daughter of Martin Luther King Jr. took a swipe at Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) Monday after he invoked the name of her father when slamming the NAACP's “travel advisory” for Black Americans traveling to Florida.
The NAACP on Sunday warned tourists visiting the state that right-wing laws are making Florida “hostile to Black Americans."
"This is bizarre. And utterly dishonest," Cruz tweeted on Sunday. "In the 1950s & 1960s, the NAACP did extraordinary good helping lead the civil rights movement. Today, Dr. King would be ashamed of how profoundly they’ve lost their way."
Responding to Cruz's tweet, Bernice King wrote: "What my father would be deeply concerned about is the harmful, discriminatory legislation in Florida."
