Sen. Ted Cruz, once a thorn in Donald Trump's side and now a reliable Republican surrogate for the President-elect, was seen by some as returning to his roots on Sunday.
Cruz, who has backed Trump on every key issue throughout the election, raised some eyebrows with how he chose to "weigh in on Trump’s 90-day extension for TikTok."
“If we are sitting here 91 days from now and TikTok is still live and China still controls it, that will be a very dangerous situation… It is a potent propaganda tool," the GOP lawmaker said.

Although Cruz was careful not to criticize Trump's plan directly, some commenters pointed out the apparent hypocrisy.
Journalist Pete Pachal chimed in, "So it’s not dangerous on the 89th day?" referencing when Trump's purported plan would keep the app in place as a deal can ultimately be reached.
In a second example reported over the weekend, Cruz stated that he wants to pass the next legislative agenda "in a two-bill approach rather than the 'one big, beautiful bill' approach that the incoming president and Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) have both embraced."
Cruz said the situation was a "tactical disagreement," according to The Hill.
At least two other Republican lawmakers are similarly opposing Trump's wishes on TikTok.
