Video of police shooting and killing 37-year-old Louisiana resident Alton Sterling sparked a lot of angry reactions on Wednesday, but the most heart-breaking reaction came from his teenage son.
As he stood by his mother Quinyetta McMillan during a family press conference on Wednesday morning, 15-year-old Cameron Sterling broke down in tears and had to be consoled by relatives as she spoke.
"The individuals involved in his murder took away a man with children who depended upon their daddy on a daily basis," McMillan said, while adding that Sterling "simply tried to earn a living to take care of his children."
Sterling was killed on Tuesday in Baton Rouge, where video showed that he was pinned to the ground by police and then fatally shot at least five times after the police claimed that he had a gun. Police had been called to the scene after an anonymous caller told them that there was a man with a gun in the area who was behaving in a threatening manner.
Edmond Jordan, an attorney for Sterling's family, is demanding that the Louisiana State Police take over the investigation into Sterling's death from the Baton Rouge police.
