The Tennessee state Senate Sergeant at Arms forcibly pulled a banner from the hands of Sen. Charlane Oliver (D) during a debate on redistricting.
As the body was considering new maps that would erase the state's only majority-Black district, Oliver held up a banner that said: "No Jim Crow 2 Stop the Steal."
In a video captured by NewsChannel 5's Chris Davis, the Sergeant at Arms could be seen in a tug-of-war with the senator in an attempt to confiscate the banner.
The legislature ended the day with both the House and Senate approving the redistricting effort, which was expected to give Republicans an additional advantage in midterm elections.
