Tennessee Dem: One House Republican is considering articles of impeachment against Trump

Rep. Steve Cohen (D-TN) told MSNBC on Sunday that his quiet coalition to build a team to introduce the articles of impeachment against President Donald Trump has one Republican member.

The Tennessee congressman said the his group is waiting until more co-sponsors join the effort before they go public, and while his coalition is mostly Democrats, there is one Republican who is ready to see Trump removed from office.

"I have one Republican that has said he is looking at it, he’s considering it,” Cohen said, according to The Hill. “I have other Republicans just like Sen. Bob Corker suggested, who have told me on a constant basis that they know this man is not balanced, he is not capable of continuing to lead us.”

"They would like to see an end to the Trump administration and they do not approve of what he's doing," said Cohen, but they fear the president's sway over his base and worry they'll lose in their next bid for re-election.

Cohen said that his effort is separate from Rep. Al Green (D-TX)'s introduction of the articles of impeachment from last July.

"We don't want to be like the previous resolution that was introduced in July by one member by himself," Cohen said. "Not that William Tell and the Lone Ranger aren't right sometimes, but it's best in Congress to have some support."
