An owner of a Tesla Cybertruck revealed to Business Insider this week that he was forced to sell his vehicle after being subjected to a bullying campaign from random strangers.
In an interview with Business Insider, former Cybertruck owner Ben Baker said that his own daughter implored him to return the vehicle because she believed it was making them a target for critics of Tesla CEO Elon Musk, who have been protesting at Tesla dealerships across the country for weeks.
"The first week I drove the Cybertruck, I took my family to Starbucks in it," he explained. "As I was doing that, three people walked behind me and started looking at me and laughing. Then one of them called me a Nazi. I go, 'What are you talking about? I'm just buying this awesome truck. I think it's awesome. I'm not a Nazi.' They were like, 'Whatever, Nazi.' I thought [that]was weird."
After this, his daughter implored him to sell the truck because she feared her peers would bully her for being seen in one.

After this, he decided to turn the vehicle in because he worried about what would happen if one of his children were attacked while they were riding in the truck.
At the end of his interview, Baker complained about the angry atmosphere in American politics at the moment.
"As long as we keep doing that and trying to put people into boxes and categorize them and label them, that's just going to create more division and hate and it's super unfair," he said. "We have got to find a way forward together that brings back basic human decency but also common sense so that we cheer for American companies to grow and thrive and help our pensions, versus cheering for the fall of an American company."
Baker did not mention the role that Musk has played in sparking division and anger, such as when he flashed a salute at a Trump rally what was openly celebrated by avowed neo-Nazis.
