An FBI agent in Houston has been indicted on charges of stealing personal and government property, according to a statement released by the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of Texas.
"Authorities have arrested Nicholas Anthony Williams," said the statement. "The charges allege that from March 2022 to July 2023, Williams took money or property from multiple residences while executing search warrants as an FBI special agent and then allegedly converted the money or property to his personal use."
Williams worked for the violent gang and counterterrorism squads, the statement continued.
According to the charges, Williams also allegedly stole FBI-issued cell phones, made fraudulent charges to a federal credit card, and lied to investigators about those expenses.

Williams could receive up to 10 years in federal prison and fines of a maximum $250,000 if convicted of the charges.
This comes after a series of other scandals involving criminal charges against officials at the FBI. Last year, former counterintelligence special agent Charles McGonigal was arrested over his alleged ties to sanctioned oligarch Oleg Deripaska.
