'Thanks for your speech, k*ke': YouTube shuts down comments on white nationalism hearing after neo-Nazis invade it

Comments on a YouTube livestream carrying a House Judiciary Committee hearing on the rise of white nationalism under President Donald Trump were disabled after users filled them with appalling attacks on Jews and lawmakers.

As the committee hearing convened, with Rep Jerry Nadler (D-NY) chairing public testimony by experts on extremism, the comments quickly filled up with YouTube viewers launching attacks, including one calling the assembled Republicans and Democrats a "DIVERSE PANEL OF JEWS."

Google told CNBC that comments were disabled because of the "hateful comments."

"Hate speech has no place on YouTube. We've invested heavily in teams and technology dedicated to removing hateful comments and videos and we take action on them when flagged by our users," the company said in a statement.

Before the comments were disabled, extremism expert J.J. MacNab was able to screenshot an assortment that illustrates how toxic the responses were before they were cut off.
