'That's not true!': MSNBC's Ali Velshi slaps down Breitbart editor for twisting border crossing statistics

While interviewing Breitbart editor-at-large Joel Pollak about whether or not President Donald Trump has kept his promises to his base, MSNBC host Ali Velshi took a moment to call B.S. on a false equivalency.

Although border crossings decreased during the beginning of his presidency, Pollak claimed that "once Trump started talking about legalizing DACA, you again have this problem of incentivizing people to come across, and you've seen the numbers tick back up again."

"That's not really true," Velshi said, "because you can't come in as a new DREAMer."

"No, but once you are talking about reform you see illegal border crossings — again, I'm aware the two populations are very different," Pollak said, cutting himself off mid-sentence. 

As CNN reported earlier this month, illegal border crossings began to rise over the summer, long before he began his feud with Democrats that led to a three-day government shutdown.
