The View’s Sara Haines says 'scariest part' of Trump’s campaign is there's no more 'shock value'

On Friday, the View co-hosts responded to First Lady Michelle Obama's powerful speech about Republican nominee Donald Trump's sexual abuse of women.

Obama called on us all to treat Trump's remarks not as a partisan issue, but as one that deeply affects so many women, men, and children.

She said, "I have to tell you that I listened to all this. And I feel it so personally. And I’m sure that many of you do too. Particularly the women. The shameful comments about our bodies. The disrespect of our ambitions and intellect. The belief that you can do anything you want to a woman. It is cruel. It is frightening. And the truth is, it hurts. It hurts."

The women on the View expressed similar sentiments about Trump's sexually violent remarks and actions.

Speaking to part of the First Lady's speech in which she calls out the many people who are treating Trump's comments as "just another day in the headlines ... as if it's just normal," Raven Symoné made an important point about this election and Trump's rise to power.

She explains, "We keep joking, and we keep laughing and then we keep [saying] 'He's doing wrong!' but it's like the bad guy always wins." She continues, "It's not just him that's showing bad behavior is OK, it's the other people voting for him ... It's not just him anymore, it's everybody."

Donald Trump's rise to power is in no small part due to the extensive coverage of his blatantly false claims, without fact-checks. It is due to the huge platform he has been given to spew his hateful rhetoric.

Sara Haines importantly added to Symoné's words saying, "I think the scariest part of his campaign is we're so used to the sensational aspects of this, that none of this has any shock value anymore and that's scary because it loses the power of the truth."
