Tony Perkins brazenly lies about sodomy laws to support his wild claims about gay marriage

Reacting to the Supreme Court's ruling allowing same-sex couples to wed, Family Research Council president Tony Perkins warned of dire consequences for the American families, while lying about sodomy laws in the U.S. in order to make his case

Speaking with Philip Klein of the Washington Examiner, Perkins argued that -- for those who read their Bible -- accepting gay marriage is "not negotiable."

"The idea that conservatives or Christians can get along with this agenda and fall in line is just false," Perkins said. "I'm going to tell you, those who follow Scripture will not yield on this."

Disregarding the Supreme Court's 2003 ruling in Lawrence v. Texas, Perkins incorrectly stated that gays "have always have been able to do what they want in the privacy of their own homes."

"What they've done is they've thrust their home -- their bedroom, if you will -- into the public square, into our schools where our children are being taught this normalcy of homosexuality, comparing it to heterosexuality."

Calling the 37 states that had previously legalized same-sex marriage "a handful," Perkins said the consequences of having the court " thrust it" upon the remaining states would soon become evident.

"We're going to see the impact on marriage as we've seen in some of the Scandinavian countries. Which means we're going to see more children born out of wedlock," he explained.

Pressed on whether he was expecting a "spike" in out of wedlock births, Perkins stumbled around a bit before rambling, "Any policy step – like you go back to no-fault divorce – we have seen this escalation in out-of-wedlock births, we've seen the de-escalation of marriage rates as a result of policy changes that move away from the historic meaning of marriage."
