An Englishman is raffling his home to Americans who are looking for a foreign "safe haven" from President Donald Trump for just $10 per ticket, according to a new report.
The Guardian reported on Thursday that Tristram Biggs is raffling his nearly $1 million property in a Buckinghamshire, England village to Americans who are "uneasy about the political temperature at home."
"My cousin sent me an article from the New York Times about a house that was being raffled in Ireland and I thought I might be able to do a similar thing,” Biggs told the outlet. “I’m aiming it mainly at Americans, because I think there are millions out there who are terrified about how the political situation is developing, and would be delighted to spend $10 on the ticket to what would effectively be a life raft Plan B.”
Some high-profile Americans like Rosie O'Donnell have left America and applied for foreign citizenship because of Trump.
Biggs has been trying to sell his home since the summer, he told the outlet. He wants to move back to London, according to the report.
“In a difficult housing market, I’m trying a different way to solve my problem,” he said. “I’m tapping into a dream of a safe haven and a playful escape.”
