President Donald Trump is gearing up to watch Saturday’s Army-Navy football game in Baltimore, Maryland, and insisted ahead of the matchup that “everyone” was asking for his take on the highly anticipated bout.
“Getting ready to land at Fort McHenry for my short drive to the Army-Navy Game,” Trump wrote Saturday on his social media platform Truth Social. “Everyone is asking who am I supporting, Army or Navy? My answer is: ‘You must be joking if you think I’m going to give you that answer!’
The annual tradition of pitting two largest U.S. military branches against each other began as far back as 1890, with the Navy continuing to lead the series with 63-55, which includes a 14-game winning streak from 2002 to 2015. Last year’s game saw Navy win out with a score of 31-13.
Trump has attended several professional and college football games in person while president, most recently in Landover, Maryland to attend the Washington Commanders v. Detroit Lions game last month, and in doing so became the first sitting president in nearly 50 years to attend a regular-season NFL game.
Trump also
attended Super Bowl LIX back in February, and has raged about rule changes implemented in the NFL, changes that he’s argued have turned the sport into “
sissy football.”
