Trump asserts executive privilege over Mueller report in last bid effort to protect Bill Barr from Jerry Nadler

President Donald Trump on Wednesday asserted executive privilege over all of special counsel Robert Mueller's report on Russian interference during the 2016 presidential election.

The assertion of executive privilege came just as the House Judiciary Committee was about to hold a vote on holding Attorney General Bill Barr in contempt. The president's assertion over the entire report comes despite the fact that most of the report has already been made public.

The House Judiciary Committee last month issued a subpoena to the Department of Justice demanding the release of the full, unredacted Mueller report along with the underlying evidence that Mueller used to justify his report's conclusions.

After Barr did not meet the committee's deadline, however, Chairman Jerry Nadler (D-NY) moved to hold Barr in contempt of Congress.
