Donald Trump has so far been leaning on his PACs to fund his legal defense bills, and could in theory attempt to do the same with other massive legal judgments, but that strategy is running on fumes, according to Jen Psaki Saturday.
Psaki, former White House press secretary and current MSNBC host, recently called out Trump's 'demeaning' view of women. Now, she's looking at the former president's financials.
Psaki noted that Trump's PACs reportedly spent $50 million on his legal expenses last year, and that the campaign spent more cash than it raised in the last three months of 2023. She also highlighted that Trump's largest PAC, MAGA Inc., "spent more than it raised in the last half of 2023," including $30 million funneled toward his largest source of legal defense funding.

All that, Psaki says, paints a poor picture for Trump.
"So yes, Trump’s fundraising abilities are impressive. But the legal fees and judgments are really starting to add up — and the trials for his four indictments haven’t even started yet," she said. "Last month, a Manhattan jury ordered Trump to pay E. Jean Carroll $83.3 million for defamation. And he is also awaiting New York Judge Arthur Engoron’s verdict in the New York civil fraud case; Attorney General Letitia James has called for a $370 million fine."
Psaki then added:
"So whatever his financial circumstances, he is at risk of not having enough liquid assets to cover his legal fees and legal judgments. And relying on his political PACs to constantly bail him out is not a long-term solution."
