Trump board appointee sues Biden administration for firing him: report

Political appointees come and go with each administration with no guaranteed job security for more than four years. But in the final days of former President Donald Trump's term, he rushed to appoint as many of his loyalists to boards and positions as were open.

Such was the case with Christian rights activist Roger Severino, who was appointed to the council of the Administrative Conference of the United States. The group's aim is to work on ways to make the federal government work better. The board is comprised of experts in "legal, business, non-profit and academic arenas," the website says.

According to Politico, "Severino's lawsuit, filed in federal court in Washington, said he believed that three other members of the council were given a similar ultimatum."

"The Council does not wield any executive power — indeed, it does not wield any power at all as a purely advisory entity — so President Biden has no constitutional power to terminate Mr. Severino or any other member of the Council," the lawsuit says.
