Trump faces 'brisk briefing schedule' in DC as Judge Chutkan moves to expedite case
Despite Donald Trump's repeated attempts to delay his DC elections case, he will be facing an expedited briefing, according to court records.
Trump has consistently sought to delay the case, in which special counsel Jack Smith has accused the former president of attempting to subvert the 2020 election. Trump has scored some success with modest delays, but a court memo made public on Tuesday shows Judge Tanya Chutkan is juicing the process.
The news comes from a docket minute order that was flagged by Roger Parloff, senior editor of Lawfare.

"Judge Chutkan continues to move case along," Parloff wrote Tuesday. "For 2 govt motions filed today, she sets up brisk briefing schedule with shorter deadlines than the default local rule. Trump to respond in 10 days (not 14), with govt reply in 5 days (not 7)."
