Trump claims ExxonMobil 'fleeing our country' — but then admits company relocated to Texas

"Businesses are fleeing our country," is what ex-President Donald Trump said during a New York Republican event Saturday, according to The Messenger.

"It's business-unfriendly and they're going to other places," Trump insisted.

Attempting to prove his point, the 2024 MAGA hopeful pointed to ExxonMobil's decision to leave New York, blaming New York Attorney General Letitia James.

However, the company actually stayed in the United States — choosing Dallas, Texas as its new home.

The trial for James' $250 million fraud case against the former president, the Trump Organization and two of his sons is ongoing, with Judge Arthur Engoron expected to rule next month.

"She sued ExxonMobil in 2019," Trump told the crowd. "Letitia James, in a much-watched legal battle, the end result was that Exxon moved out of New York. ExxonMobil, one of the biggest companies in the world, left New York and went to Dallas. Great job, Letitia."

The Messenger reports the corporation "announced it was relocating its company headquarters to the Lone Star State back in 1989." The was long before James became attorney general.
