'Unremarkable' Trump is finding women have him figured out while men live in fear: expert
February 02, 2024
In an interview with Salon, the author of "Trump on the Couch: Inside the Mind of the President" suggested Donald Trump has met his match in recent years with his inability to bully women who have challenged his actions and his narcissistic belief in his own superiority.
Speaking with Salon's Chauncey DeVega, Dr. Justin Frank, a former clinical professor of psychiatry at the George Washington University Medical Center, was asked about comments New York writer E. Jean Carroll made about the former president after her $83.3 million defamation trial win.
With Carroll saying of Trump on CNN, "He was nothing," the psychiatrist suggested her dismissal of the former president is indicative of his declining power over women — including one he sexually assaulted.
With DeVega prompting, "During her interview on Monday with MSNBC, E. Jean Carroll said that she is not afraid of Trump anymore and that he is like a 'walrus' making noises. Many people ran with Carroll's comment about Trump and then proceeded to make fun of him," the psychiatrist agreed the door had been opened.

"E. Jean Carroll was not simply making fun of Trump. She was speaking her truth, that when she saw Trump in the court, she suddenly realized he was like the emperor without clothes. She is saying that to her Trump is nothing," he explained. "To be afraid of this man is ludicrous as she now sees him. Trump has a lot of money, but he really is unremarkable. Sure, he bullies weak Republican congressmen but he is nothing at his core. E. Jean Carroll called Trump a hollow man."
Expanding on that point, Frank noted that Carroll is not the only woman who has managed to cut the former president down to size without fear of reprisal.
"Moreover, E. Jean Carroll and Liz Cheney and Hillary Clinton and the other women who have stood up to Trump show, at least as I see it, that women are less afraid of Trump than most men are," he elaborated before pointing out, "Lots of men – both in Congress and his MAGA followers in general — are terrified of Trump and are afraid of being emasculated by him."
"That fear of Trump also paralyzes many among the opposition. When Trump says 'jump!' there are so many men who say, 'how high?' and then do whatever Trump wants."
