Courts will have to 'come after' Trump to make him pay E. Jean Carroll: biographer

Donald Trump could try to avoid paying the millions of dollars awarded to writer E. Jean Carroll in her civil suits against him, according to his own biographer, Tim O'Brien.
During an appearance on MSNBC, O'Brien referenced the recent ruling that awarded Carroll $83.3 million, saying that he thinks Trump "definitely does have the cash."
""Will he willingly part with it again? I think not," O'Brien said.

"In both cases, you are going to have to see the courts come after him and attack some of his assets," he continued. "Most of Donald Trump's wealth is tied up in a handful of urban skyscrapers whose value has been diminished by the COVID pandemic and this flight from urban centers. A lot of it is in golf courses. None of it is, as they say in the trade, 'very liquid.'"
Trump was found liable last month of defamation against Carroll for comments he made in 2019 where he denied allegations that he sexually assaulted her in a Manhattan department store dressing room in the 1990s. Trump was previously ordered to pay Carroll $5 million after being found liable for the assault.
As Newsweek points out, O'Brien said in previous comments that the financial judgements "absolutely bother him."
"Trump sees his life, himself, his relationships and the world around him through the lens of money. It animates everything he does," O'Brien said.
