'It can't happen!' Chris Cuomo hammers conservative lawyer's claim that Trump still has executive privilege

On Thursday's edition of CNN's "Cuomo Prime Time," pro-Trump attorney Jim Schultz tried to argue the former president still has executive privilege — and was swiftly smacked down.

"DOJ, in a memo from Paul Clement a number of years ago, Deputy Attorney General Clement, has indicated he believed this was something that the privilege, the executive privilege, did cover folks who weren't in the administration advising the president," said Schultz. "So there's a lot of legal issues here that are going to end up making their way through the process."

"Hold on a second," said Cuomo. "Colorable claim, how? No former president has ever exercised — not only has it never happened, it's never happened because it can't happen. The privilege goes with the office, not the person. And that's why past presidents ask current presidents to exercise the privilege."

"What was the privilege intended to cover?" said Cuomo. "It's going to be very hard to argue that it's in the national interests to protect that privilege. Right?"
