Trump appeals gag order from New York judge in hush money case

Donald Trump pursued the reversal of a gag order issued by Judge Juan Merchan ahead of a hush money trial.

On Monday, Trump's legal team appealed the gag order issued by Merchan and a decision not to move the trial from Manhattan, the Washington Post reported.

Initially set for March 25, the trial was postponed to April 15 after the defense received about 100,000 pages of records from federal prosecutors.

Merchan's gag order, aimed at preventing Trump from publicly discussing people involved in the case and their relatives, was expanded to include the judge's and Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg's family members after Trump continued to target Merchan's daughter on social media.

Trump and his supporters argued that Merchan's impartiality was compromised by his daughter's work for Democratic campaigns and by small donations Merchan made to Democratic causes.
