Judge Scott F. McAfee eliminated some of the Fulton County election interference charges against Donald Trump on Wednesday, and some legal analysts believe that gives a clear hint about how he will rule on disqualifying District Attorney Fani Willis.
Over the past several weeks, Trump's co-defendants have tried to have Willis removed from the case against Trump because she had a relationship with a lead prosecutor.
They claim she financially benefitted from the relationship while he was making money from the county.
On Wednesday, McAfee dismissed six counts in the criminal case facing Trump and his allies — three of them affected Trump personally and involved solicitation of violation of oath by a public officer. Many charges remain.
Former impeachment lawyer and ethics czar Norm Eisen explained that the move is "somewhat of an indication that Judge McAfee will NOT disqualify Willis."
Writing on social media, Eisen explained that the judge is, "Refusing to throw out key elements of the RICO charge, although he is tossing a few of the later counts against a few of the defendants for lack of specificity."

"If he were gonna disqualify Willis, he likely would not have bothered to wrap up this very detailed order, since he’s busy and disqualification will effectively freeze the case for a while," he said.
"But that is only a mild indication, not a strong one. He could be thinking something different. That being said, it tends to reinforce my strong view of the applicable law and the evidence that disqualification does not apply."
Georgia law professor Anthony Michael Kreis said , "I think Norm may be right here."
Legal analysts highlighted that the racketeering charge was not among those dismissed.
