Trump Jr. leaves the door open for Roger Ailes to join his father's campaign: 'They are friends'

Donald Trump Jr. on Sunday didn't rule out the possibility that former Fox News chief Roger Ailes could join his father's campaign.

When questioned about the two joining forces, the son of Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump only said he didn't know if the media giant would be part of the campaign.

"Not that I'm aware of," Trump Jr. said on CNN. "I mean, I know they are friends and have a long-term relationship but I’m happy with the work Paul Manafort is doing, I think our team is coming into place."

Ailes officially stepped down from his position as CEO of Fox News last week after facing a slew of sexual harassment complaints, initiated by a lawsuit filed by former Fox News host Gretchen Carlson.

On Sunday, Trump praised Ailes as a "very good person."

"He’s been a friend of mine for a really long time," Trump said. "And I can tell you that some of the women who are complaining, I know how much he’s helped them... . I’ve always found him to be just a very, very good person. Any by the way a very, very talented person. Look what he’s done. So I feel very badly. But a lot of people are thinking he’s going to run my campaign."
