President Donald Trump’s angry tirade aimed at a CNN reporter during an Oval Office press availability was a tipoff that he knows the walls are closing in on him.
During a panel discussion on MS NOW’s “Morning Joe,” the co-hosts focused on Trump berating CNN correspondent Kristen Holmes when she asked about comments made by Sen. John Ossoff (D-GA) and noted that a major chink has appeared in Trump’s armor.
“Just a wild scene, frankly, yesterday at the White House, that briefing,” co-host Willie Geist prompted Jonathan. Lemire. “You got the lifeguard sitting with you, you're being asked legitimate questions about the USS Abraham Lincoln, you're asked legitimate questions about your embrace of Kim Jong Un and then asked for a response to Jon Ossoff, and this is the outburst we get.”
“Yeah, these are legitimate questions,” Lemire agreed before adding, “ And it is a telltale sign that nothing is going well. So therefore, the president doesn't have the ability to pivot to a good news story because he has no good news.”
“Those questions were completely in bounds; there was nothing wrong with those questions,” he elaborated. “This is the president's anger spewing out…. It gives, you know, first of all, it gives oxygen to the Natalie Harp story.”
