Former President Donald Trump might be saddled with a $370 million tab that his former fixer attorney believes "he can't afford".
Come Jan. 31, when Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Arthur Engoron is expected to deliver his verdict, it could send the 45th president into financial distress.
"I have never seen Donald look so preoccupied," Michael Cohen said during an appearance on CNN's "Laura Coates Live" hours after the civil fraud trial ended with attorneys and even Trump himself delivering remarks in open court .
When Cohen stared at his one time boss, he said he saw a "face of the defeated man on the verge of a nervous breakdown."
He suspects there's a very clear reason why Trump might be sweating, and he claimed that "the one thing that Donald knows is that the bill is coming and that he cannot afford to pay it."
The question of whether or not Trump, his sons Don Jr. and Eric, and the Trump Organization committed fraud was already decided by Engoron back in September.
New York Attorney General Letitia James who brought the case is seeking a $370 million in damages.
She and her team of attorneys claimed that Trump and his real estate juggernaut duped banks, insurers and others by hyping the value of his assets and inflating his net worth on documents in order to secure advantageous deals and loans.
Cohen is convinced that Trump's running out of runway to bob and weave this case and the criminal ones that are lurking.
"He is all about the excuse," he said. "Make up whatever excuses that he can in order to try to convince, who, his supporters that he is right; he is the victim; nobody else has been heard — the law is the law. He broke the law and now he's going to be held accountable."
