President Donald Trump instructed his followers Tuesday to “watch for the ‘Midterm Surprise’” in an ambiguous announcement on his social media platform Truth Social.
“My Rally crowds and enthusiasm are unbelievable! Nobody has ever seen anything like it. We are flipping races all over the place,” Trump wrote in a post to his more than 13 million followers.
“The Fake News knows it, but they don’t want to be truthful with their viewers. It’s all happening! The Dumocrats never counted on this. Thanks you to the great Networks that are covering the Rallies in full. They are being rewarded with BIG RATINGS. Watch for the ‘Midterm Surprise!’”
Trump did not expand on what the impending “Midterm Surprise” would be, and his announcement comes as the Republican Party “braces for midterm pain.” Gas prices remain elevated in large part due to the president’s deeply unpopular war against Iran, and Trump’s career-low approval ratings threaten to drag down Republican candidates in November.
