Donald Trump ridiculed Lindsey Graham for breaking from him for only a few hours: new book

Jonathan Karl's new book about the final days of Donald Trump's administration is making news before it is released to the public on Wednesday. Among some of the incidents recounted in Betrayal, the ABC News reporter details how White House staff navigated the Jan. 6 attack -- especially those who pondered removing Trump from power.

In the final chapter of the book, Karl gives a quick glimpse into the relationship between Trump and Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC), with the former president mocking the Republican for swaying between support and opposition.

After rattling off several GOP members by name that were on a kind of political "hit list," Trump "ridiculed Senator Lindsey Graham, who had said he was done with Trump on the evening of January 6 but quickly came back into the Trump fold after he was harassed by Trump supporters the next day at the airport."

"That's Lindsey," Trump told Karl. He went on to say "with a smile that Lindsey's separation from him lasted 'maybe a few hours' until he was 'attacked at the airport.'"

Trump went on to say that he's not sure if he could ever forgive Mike Pence, however.

He went line-by-line about the Republicans who he viewed as "traitors." Karl described the list as "long," noting that the former president had a "biting insult" ready for each of them.

"I find this stuff so exhilarating and so interesting," Trump said.

Karl's book Betrayal is on sale Wednesday.
