A CNN panel on Thursday expressed bewilderment at former President Donald Trump's decision to launched scorched-Earth attacks on Nikki Haley despite handily defeating her in the 2024 New Hampshire Republican primary.
Democratic strategist David Axelrod found himself stunned that Trump would react with such anger during what should have been a triumphant week for his presidential hopes.
"The whole week is mind boggling," Axelrod said. "He just won a big victory in New Hampshire. It should be a great week for him. He went nuts on what was supposed to be a victory speech and gave this incredibly nasty speech about Nikki Haley, which he continues to this moment. All he had to say was thank you, great campaign, shake her hand and we're on to the general."

Former Trump official Alyssa Farah Griffin similarly said that Trump's rage-filled tirades against Haley were doing him no favors.
"Any decent person who watched his so-called victory speech that night -- a bunch of men on stage nodding, smiling and laughing as he mocks her, makes comments about her dress -- that's so unappealing," Griffin said. "What we learned that night is he is toxic with independents and women especially with college degrees."
Trump has only continued slamming Haley, going so far as to threaten anyone who continued donating to her political campaign with excommunication from his political movement.
